Why Congress Wants to Sell Us Out to Illegals

http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back706.html
Immigration and Usurpation: Elites, Power, and the People's Will
By Fredo Arias-King

This article suggests that the main reasons that politicians of both parties support mass immigration is that they believe by changing the population demographics they can ensure that they "remain in power and increase the scope of that power." The author, Fredo Arias-King, was a member of the Mexican delegation to Congress during Vicente Fox's 2000 campaign, and as such heard many comments by Congress members that they would never make to their citizen constituents. Based on these comments, Arias-King, a Harvard-trained expert in democratization of Eastern Europe, concluded that Congress wants to use immigration to reduce democracy by changing the population demographics.

As Arias-King points out, the American democracy model established by the Founding Fathers has mechanisms to prevent the political class from usurping power and becoming "a permanent elite"; however these mechanisms are based on the "independent character of the American folk." In other words, Americans expect their politicians to be honest and accountable and will remove those politicians who are not. In Mexico and Latin American countries, "the population accepts and expects corruption from the political class" and views politicians in a patron-client relationship: the people are loyal to the politicians that give them jobs and money.

From his discussions with both Republicans and Democrat lawmakers, Arias-King concluded that they believed by increasing the percentage of Latinos they could:

"...weaken the restraining and frustrating straightjacket devised by the Founding Fathers and abetted by American norms. In that idealized 'new' United States, political uncertainty, demanding constituents, difficult elections, and accountability in general would 'go away' after tinkering with the People, who have given lawmakers their privileges, but who...can also 'unfairly' take them away, Hispanics would acquiesce and assist in the 'natural progress' of these legislators to remain in power and increase the scope of that power."

Congressmen supporting amnesty are also associated with attempts to undermine the Jefferson - Madison model of democracy. For example Senator Arlen Specter, a leading supporter of amnesty, once proposed allowing federal judges to changing outcomes of elections based on quotas. New Mexico is the best example of the patron-client system evolving in the USA. Forty percent of its people are on food stamps and the Democratic bosses there promise to help people with money and jobs in return for votes. Governor Bill Richardson told Arias-King's delegation: "What do Hispanics want? Fully funded government programs!"

As a member of the Vicente Fox campaign, Arias-King noticed that their meetings planning their government policies were not:

"about 'what can we do to make tough decisions to reform Mexico,' but rather more 'how can we get more concessions form the United States.'"

Arias-King states that a "firm but polite defense of American interests by Washington" would force Mexican elites in actions more beneficial for Mexico just as the European Union's tough laws forced the ruling elites of aspiring nations to adopt painful reforms that would not otherwise have been adopted because they hurt special interests.

Although some say the American creed cannot be used top oppose mass immigration, Arias-King thinks that may change

"If an organizeable mass of Americans comes to suspect that mass immigration from Latin America is being used by the political class to undermine their democracy and as a tool to liberate the political elites from the Jeffersonian and Madisonian constraints, then indeed we may witness a reaction...but hopefully not against the immigrants themselves, as they are also objects of elite manipulations in more than one country."

Michael Yon is the New Ernie Pyle

Whenever I doubt the media's spin on the Iraq war I turn to
Michael Yon's online blogger. He's an ex-Green Beret turned free lance photo-journalist who has been embedded with the troops for several years. Get this, when he talks about the military he actually calls them "our people." No stupid mamby-bamby "impartiality" nonsense. Yon knows who the good guys are and his writing glorifies their deeds.

His latest dispatches are masterpieces straight from the heart of the new offensive against Al Qaeda:

"By the time you read this, our artillery will be firing, and our tanks moving in. And Humvees. And Strykers. And other vehicles. Our people will capture key terrain and cut off escape routes. The idea this time is not to chase Al Qaeda out, but to trap and kill them head-on, or in ambushes, or while they sleep. When they are wounded, they will be unable to go to hospitals without being captured, and so their wounds will fester and they will die painfully sometimes. It will be horrible for Al Qaeda. Horror and terrorism is what they sow, and tonight they will reap their harvest. They will get no rest. They can only fight and die, or run and try to get away. Nobody is asking for surrender, but if they surrender, they will be taken."

And then there is this...

"The heat is intense for the enemy and for us. Soldiers, during any chance, would lay-down during the heat of day, and in complete body armor and helmets, fall asleep in the dirt. I took photos of course. Our guys are tough. The enemy in Baqubah as good as any in Iraq, and better than most. That’s saying a lot. But our guys have been systematically trapping them, and have foiled some big traps set for our guys. I don't want to say much more about that, but our guys are seriously outsmarting them. Big fights are ahead and we will take serious losses probably, but al Qaeda, unless they find a way to escape, are about to be slaughtered. Nobody is dropping leaflets asking them to surrender. Our guys want to kill them, and that's the plan."
